About the event
Murals seem to be nearly everywhere in Kansas towns both big and small. However, it’s not a new tradition. From the iconic John Steuart Curry murals in the state’s capitol to the frescoes of Jean Charlot in Atchison, and the many murals by artists commissioned as part of the New Deal, murals have long
graced our public spaces. Dave Loewenstein, Kansan artist, author and community organizer, will discuss the artists, meanings, and impetus behind the state’s rich collection of public murals, and how they reflect an image of who we are as Kansans. This program is made possible by Humanities Kansas, and hosted by the Bonner Springs City Library.
